Our Pre-K program prepares children for kindergarten through play, exploration, and early academics, building confidence, independence, and nurturing their individual strengths.

Social/Emotional

Each month, children focus on key goals such as building positive relationships, engaging in cooperative play, recognizing emotions in themselves and others, developing conflict resolution skills, and fostering a strong sense of belonging.

Language/Communication

Children develop letter recognition by learning most letters and their corresponding sounds, laying a foundation for reading. They learn sight words, which helps build vocabulary and reading fluency. Through storytelling, children enhance their skills in retelling stories and reading simple texts, strengthening comprehension and narrative abilities. A key focus of the program is developing phonemic awareness, which is essential for successful reading and spelling.

Fine & Gross Motor Skills

Children practice using pencils, markers, and crayons with proper grip, drawing detailed shapes and body parts, as well as cutting and gluing. These fine motor skills are complemented by daily outdoor play that promotes agility and gross motor development.

Arts & Sciences

We celebrate and explore each other’s cultures to deepen children’s appreciation for diversity and broaden their understanding of the world. Through stories, activities, and cultural traditions, children learn about different places, people, and customs, fostering respect and inclusivity. Guided by their natural curiosity, they engage in hands-on experiments and make predictions about the world around them.

Math

Children explore foundational math concepts through engaging visual aids and interactive games, developing their ability to recognize numbers up to 20. They begin to grasp simple addition and subtraction, building early problem-solving skills. Additionally, children learn to compare numbers between 0 and 10, understanding concepts of more and less.

Building independence, one step at a time

Children become self-confident and learn to complete tasks independently such as using the bathroom, putting on and removing their shoes and jackets, zippering and cleaning up after meals and play. They are also given the option of making their own choices during classroom activities during the day.

Ready, set, kindergarten!

Teachers create an emergent curriculum that incorporates areas that will prepare them for their next phase, while adhering to NYS standards. Assessments are used to track learning and progress. A high level of focus is placed on creating schedules that have a healthy balance between play and classwork.

We’re open Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. We’re here when you need us most with early drop-off and late pick-up to support your busy schedule!
